Bertha Tanea

Newark—Bertha Tanea, 96, died Wednesday (August 31, 2011) at her home

            Friends may call from 10:30 AM to Noon on Saturday (September 3rd), at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark with funeral services following at Noon.  Burial will be in Newark Cemetery.

            Memorials in her name may be made to Wayne County Humane Society, 1475 County House Road, Lyons, New York 14489

            Mrs. Tanea was born April 5, 1915 in Newark, the daughter of the late William and Mary Stockman DeSmith. She was predeceased by her husband Henry in 1984.  She was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church.  She had retired from Garlock, Inc. in Palmyra.  Bertha was an avid Yankees fan.

             A beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, is survived by her son William (Nancy) of Newark, three grandchildren Michael (Kathy), Timothy (Kathleen) and Thomas (Sheila); five great grandchildren Erin, Matthew, Christopher, Sarah and Alex Tanea; a special thank you to her friend and neighbor Mary Valerio.  Remembrance may be made to www.murphyandsonsfuneralhome.com
