John F. Guest, Jr.

Newark/Canandaigua—John F. Guest, 74, died Tuesday (September 22, 2015) at the Clifton Springs Nursing Home.

Friends may call from 2 to 5 P.M. on Sunday (September 27th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 A.M. on Monday (September 28th) at St. Michael Church, South Main Street, Newark. Burial will be East Palmyra Cemetery.

Memorials, in his name, may be made to the Alzheimer's Association Rochester Chapter, 435 East Henrietta Road, Rochester, New York 14620.

John was born in Rochester on November 20, 1940, the son of the late John F. and Evelyn DeWitt Guest , Sr.. He graduated from Newark High School in 1958 and earned his associate degree in business management from Auburn Community College in 1972. John retired from Mobil Chemical in 2008, where he had worked for 49 years. He was a supervisior in the customer services department at Mobil. In the 1960's, John was active in the Lyons Presbyterian Church where he had served as a Deacon. John enjoyed photography and specialized in doing wedding photos. He loved to travel, seeing something in all fifty states. John was an avid Syracuse University sports fan.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Patricia Burgess Guest of Canandaigua, three children John F. III of Lyons, Michele (Scot) Tyman of Phelps, Scott (Sherry) of Canandaigua, eight grandchildren Scot, Graeme, Carrie, Leah, Hannah, Skylar, Owen and Kyra; a brother William (Linda) Guest of East Palmyra, several nieces and nephews.
