John T. Trickey “Jack”


Newark—Jack Trickey, 81, died Tuesday (March 3, 2020) at the Fairport Baptist Home.


Friends may call from 5-8 PM on Monday (March 9th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Tuesday(March 10th)


at St. Michael Church 401 S. Main St. in Newark. Burial will be in East Newark Cemetery.


Memorials, in his name, may be made to Catholic Charities of Wayne 180 E. Union St. Newark, New York 14513.


He was born on July 10, 1938 in Rochester, the son of the late Walter and Mary Lancer Trickey. Jack graduated from the Aquinas Institute in 1956. He went on to receive his Bachelors Degree in accounting, graduating from R.I.T. in 1962. While at R.I.T. Jack founded the R.I.T. hockey team. Jack married Yose “Cookie” Persi on May 18, 1963. Together they raised five children. He was a communicant of St. Michael Church in Newark. He started his career at the Monroe County Water Authority. He worked for C.H. Stuart and Sarah Coventry for 17 years; ending his career there as VP of Finance for Sarah Coventry International. It was a position he was proud of as it enabled him to travel all over the world. He went on to work with the Rochester Catholic Dioceses and retired in 2007 from the Village of Newark after serving as Village Clerk for eight years. Jack was an avid runner and gardner. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and dogs. His favorite place to be was the family summer home in the Adirondacks.


Jack is survived by five children, John Jr. “JT” of Rochester, Jeanine (Steve) Grey of Honeoye Falls, Brett of Newark, Michelle (Michael) Hays of Penfield and Michael (Debbie) of Honeoye Falls; nine grandchildren Aiden and Katie Burke, Alex, Sophie and Nate Grey, Olivia Trickey, Jackson and Lindsey Hays and Emma Trickey; his companion Adele House; a brother Leo (Karen) Trickey; three sisters Marilyn (Louis) Andolio, Bernadette (Charles) Dispenza, and Rosemary Bergin and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Yose “Cookie” in 2008.
