Newark—Lawrence W. Barra, 71, died on Thursday (December 28, 2017) at his home.

A funeral services will be held at Noon on Saturday (January6,< 2018) at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 301 East Miller Street, Newark. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Penfield.

Larry was born on October 4, 1946 in Canandaigua, the son of Leonard and Viola Merritt Barra. He had retired from Pactiv Corporation in Canandaigua. In his retirement, he has been working for Rochester-Syracuse Auto Auctions for the past several years. Larry had served in the US Marine Corps.

He is survived by his wife Jacqueline; daughters Wendy Barra of Newark and Kimberly Barra of Canandaigua; brothers Steve(Mary) Barra of Canandaigua, James (Alberta) Barra of Clyde and Dan Barra of Ontario; sisters Nancy (Willard) Boston of South Carolina, Cathy (Lester) Young of Utah, Linda (Wayne) Burke of Alabama; stepson Scott (Connie) Durgan of North Chili; step daughters Laura Bunce of Fairport, Janice (Mike) Waeghel of Brockport, Linda (Ron) Durgan of Rochester, several grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
