Newark—Ruth I. Mollenkopf, 89, died on Friday (April 6, 2018) at the MM Ewing Continuing Care Center in Canandaigua.

No prior calling hours. A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday (April 14^th) at the Newark Cemetery.

Ruth was born on September 4, 1928 in Clifton Springs, the daughter of the late Edward and Ida Black Wilck. She was a graduate of Brockport State Teacher College and taught kindergarten in Sodus and Newark before retiring to raise her family. A mother of five daughters, Ruth spent many years involved as a Girl Scout leader. She had been a member and past president of the Newark Jay N Cee's. At election times, you would find her working at the election booths. Tuesday nights she played cards with her bridge club. She was an ardent fan of the Newark High School basketball program, attending as many games as she could or just listening on the radio when she couldn't attend. Ruth loved to tend to her gardens whether it was the vegetables or the flowers.

She is survived by four daughters, Kay Nozzolio, Carol Orr, Tina (Kenneth) May and Gail (John) Fairchild; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren; a sister Rose Kauder. Ruth was predeceased by her husband Clancy and a daughter Lisa.
