Newark---Sarah K. Sorensen, 82 died on Wednesday (July 1, 2015) at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital.

All funeral services will be private. Burial will be in East Newark Cemetery.

Mrs. Sorensen was born on February 19, 1933 in Stittville, New York, the daughter of Everett and Marguerita Roberts Evans. She was a 1950 graduate of Newark High School. For several years, Sarah lived in Califoria returing to Newark in 1972. For twenty years, she worked with the latch-key program at St. Michael's School, until its closing. Then for a couple of years, Mrs. Sorensen was a foster grandparent at the Perkins Elementary School.

She is survived by her daughter Wendy (Matthew) Burgess and Robert (Kathryn) DeMarco both of Newark; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Sarah was predeceased by a sister Jane Youngs; three brothers Don, Ken and Bud Evans.
