Newark/Rochester-Ellen Dion Roberts, 95, passed peacefully on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Hurlbut Nursing Home in Rochester where she was receiving her care. Ellen was formally of North Wolcott and later in Newark, NY where she enjoyed many family and friends.
Private funeral services will be held for the family and burial will be in East Palmyra Cemetery.

Ellen was born in Newark, NY on January 10, 1925, the daughter of the late Levi and Ina Warner Dion. Ellen was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church where she enjoyed many volunteer activities. She was lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary, having been a member in Wolcott of Post 881, and Newark August Mauer Post 286 where she was cited as an outstanding contributor to the accomplishment of the programs of The American Legion Auxiliary. She also spent 20+ years as a volunteer at the Veterans Administration in Canandaigua, NY, with great pride in helping others in need.
Ellen is survived by three children Barbara Butler of Lyons, Rebecca Shulla of Newark, and Gary (Karen) Roberts of Rochester; 18 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; a sister Ruth Ann Follette; a niece. She was predeceased by her husband James in 1996; two sons Edwin “E-Jay” and James “Buster” Roberts; a brother Alfred Dion.

Remembrances
I first met Ellen in the late 1970's and was always impressed by her consistent dedication to America's veterans and to the American Legion Auxiliary. May she continue to serve as an inspiration to others and may she rest in peace. Cathe MacInnes
