Donald Richard DeClercq

Remembrances

My first station in the state police was Newark in 1954.  While there I came to know Don.  He was a young man who had a great desire to become a trooper.  I lost touch with him over the years, but pleased to know he had a long and successful career in tne NYSP. A nice guy.

This is his oldest granddaughter, Julia. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. This means the world to us! We appreciate all you did to care for him!

When the enemy death strikes your grief can be great. It’s never the right time to say goodbye to a loved one. Death to many seems to be a part of life.  It's during times such as these that we can find comfort in the Lord's Prayer in Matthew 6:9, 10. . . ‘Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified. Let your kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also upon earth'.  Only God’s Kingdom can bring peace, happiness, perfect health, and everlasting life.  We can be there to see them enjoy these and many other promises made by our Lord for 'the meek ones who will possess the earth...' Psalm 37:11.

I had the pleasure of meeting and taking care of Don while he was a resident of Fox Hollow Senior Living. He was truly a gentle person with a great sense of humor. There were many times when Don and I would laugh and joke or have conversations about his past employment or things he had done throughout his life. His daughter Colleen was always very pleasant when she came to visit, bringing him snacks and root beer and many games that we would often play together. I can even remember when she designed and given all of the employees lunch bags with our initials on them for Christmas.  I still use mine. I pray strength for the family, especially the grandaughters who were so very fond of him. He will truly be missed.
