Newark/Palmyra—Alma F. VanDenBeckens, 86, died Tuesday (September 8, 2009) at the Clifton Springs Hospital
Family and friends may call from 6-8 P.M. on Friday (September 11th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. Funeral services will be held at 12Noon on Saturday (September 12th) at the funeral home. Burial will be in East Newark Cemetery.

Mrs. VanDenBeckens was born February 14, 1923 in Marion, the daughter of George and Eva Werner Mander. She helped her late husband Edmund on the family farm. at one time, Alma had worked for Sarah Coventry, Emmons Jewelry and Drew’s Stationary Store in Newark. She had been a member of St. Michael’s Church and the Holland-American Club.
She is survived by her daughter Diane (David) Baker of Palmyra and son Donald of Lyons, four grandchildren Pamela (David) Mann of Marion, Paul Baker of Fairport, Sheryl (George) Little of Irondequoit and Mark VanDenBeckens of KS, six great grandchildren Christopher, Kaylee, Alyssa, Adam Hannah and Michael; a brother Arthur Mander of Savannah, a sister Mary Heald of Newark, several nieces and nephews. Alma was predeceased by her husband Edmund in 2007 and ten siblings.
