Newark—Anne M. Christler, 88, died peacefully at her home on Wednesday (March 18, 2015).
Family and friend are invited to a graveside funeral service at 11 A.M. on Monday (April 13th) at the East Newark Cemetery.
Memorials, in her name, may be made to Wayne County Humane Society, 1475 County House Road, Lyons, New York 14489.
Mrs. Christler was born on March 13, 1927 in the Town of Geneva, the daughter of the late Horace “Dutch” and Wilma Guthrie Bergetra. She had worked in the offices of C.H. Stuart in Newark until its closing. For over twenty-seven years, Anne then worked for the Village of Newark as a crossing guard. She loved the interaction with the kids and was stationed at several crossing over the years. Anne finished her career at St. Micheal’s School, retiring when the school closed. She loved to knit and with her knitting skills she made lots of blankets for kittens at the Humane Society. For many years, she enjoyed summers with her husband at their cottage on Keuka Lake. Anne was also active with the Newark Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
Anne is survived by her husband of 68 years, Kenneth and several nieces and nephews.
