Newark—Anthony “Tony” Salamone, 84 died Sunday (July 19, 2015) at his home.

 

Friends may call from 4 -8 P.M. on Wednesday (July 22nd) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Thursday (July 23rd) at St. Michael Church, South Main Street, Newark. Burial to follow in Newark Cemetery with full military honors.

 

Memorials, in his name, may be made to either St. Michael Church, 401 South Main Street, Newark, New York 14513, Life Time Care, 1000 West Miller Street, Newark, New York 14513, or Honor Flight of Rochester, PO Box 23581, Rochester, New York 14690.

 

Mr. Salamone was born on February 23, 1931 in Rochester, the son of Joseph and Consetta Barone Salamone. He was a 1948 graduate of Aquinas High School. Tony served in the US Army from 1956 to 1957 and was stationed in Japan. He and his wife moved to Newark in 1967 where he was a co-owner of Newark Auto Parts. He sold his interest in the store in 1987 and became a factory rep. for America East Marketing and auto supply company. Tony was a communicant of St. Micheal Church and was part of its social ministry. He was also involved in ministering to inmates at the Wayne County Jail. He was a member of the Newark Knights of Columbus and the Newark Elks Club. Tony always had a smile and a willing hand to help others. He was a devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather and loved his dog Queenie.

 

He is survived by his children Paula Orbaker of Clifton Springs, Mark of Newark, John (Bonnie) of Newark and Patricia (Kevin) McLouth of Newark; eleven grandchildren, Michael and Douglas McLouth, Jason Milke, Stacey Orbaker, Rachel and Audrey Salamone, Brandie Pollen, Jay and Robert Barbera, Matt and Mark McClosky, several great grandchildren. Tony was predeceased by his wife Helen in 2010; his brother Alphonse and his sister Florence Ferella.
