Anthony Celestino
Newark—Anthony Celestino, known to friends and family as “Tony”, passed away on July 2, 2017 in Orlando, Florida, after a prolonged illness at the age of 68 years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday (July 15, 2017) at St. Michael Church, South Main Street, Newark. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery.
Born in Lyons, New York to his father Joseph Celestino, Sr. and his loving mother Petra (Nancy) Celestino. A native of Newark, Tony served his country bravely as a Marine during the Vietnam War. He was married to the love of his life, Julia Ann Celestino (nee Burgess) also of Newark in 1986. The couple then moved to Florida where they spent 31 years together and happily raised children and grandchildren.
Tony is survived by his loving wife, Julie; son Joseph DeWandel (Shannon); daughters Jennifer Burgess, Ann Marie Celestino (George Martinez) and Elizabeth Celestino; his grandchildren Trace, Javier, Julianna, Leonardo, Alex, Jordan, Gianna, Jolie and Lynette; his brother Joseph and his sisters Patti, Mary Jane, Kathy (Butch), Genevieve (Carmen) and Debbie Ann (Theresa); along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Tony was predeceased by his mother Petra, son Anthony (Celestino) Stell, and his sister Jeanne Adra.
Tony was a loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He leaves a legacy full of love and joyful memories.
