Newark"Barbara Garvey, 65, of Route 31 West, died Monday (February 14, 2005) at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital.
Friends may call from 2-4 & 7-9 PM on Thursday (Feb. 17th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. Funeral services will be at 11 AM on Friday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery.
Memorials in her name may be made to the American Lung Association, 1595 Elmwood Avenue, Rochester, New York 14620.
Mrs. Garvey was born in Newark on March 16, 1939, the daughter of Harry and Edith Brown Murray. She was a 1957 graduate of Newark High School. She had worked at Hanover and Sarah Coventry, and was a long time secretary for Dave's Welding Service. An avid Rochester Red Wings fan, Barbara was a long time season pass holder.
A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by three daughters Margaret (Mike) Balke-Mastellar of Geneva, Kimberly (John) Shear of Newark and Kelly (Jeremy) Balch of Newark, nine grandchildren, a great granddaughter, her siblings Alice Hughes of Rochester, Edith (Ray) Canne of Newark, Doris Simonse of Port Gibson, Elizabeth (Vernon) Smallidge of Port Gibson, Robert (Barbara) Murray of Gantt, Al. Eugene (Linda) Murray of Newark and Douglas (Ellen) Murray of East Bethany, many nieces and nephews.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband Robert in 1993, siblings Clinton Murray, Gertrude Smallidge, Nina VanWinkle.
