Carl A. Conklin, Sr.
Newark ---Carl A. Conklin, Sr., 77, died Thursday (April 11. 2013) at the Wayne County Nursing Home.
Friends may call from 4 – 6 P.M. on Sunday (April 14th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. Father Felix Dalimpuo will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A. M. on Monday (April 15th) at St. Michael Church. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in Phelps.

Carl was born July 14, 1935 in Phelps, the son of late George and Beatrice Davis Conklin. He graduated from Phelps High School and enlisted in the US Army. Carl served with the Military Police in Korea during the Korean Conflict. A sales agent for Prudential Life Insurance Co for over 35 years, he retired in 1994. Carl was a communicant of St. Michael Church in Newark, a member of the Phelps American Legion, the Newark Elks Lodge and the Newark Masonic Lodge. Carl was a Civil War Re-enactment buff.
He is survived by his son Carl Jr. of Rochester, daughter Karen (Brian) DesCamp of Phelps; three grandchildren Adam, Benjamin, and Emily DesCamp; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by wife Anne on October 10, 2012, two brothers George during the Korean Conflict and Kenneth.
