Carl G. Truini
Newark/Webster: Carl G. Truini, 83, retired Post Master in Newark died Wednesday (October 25, 2006) at his home in Webster. Father Peter Clifford will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM on Saturday (Oct. 28th) at St. Michael's Church, South Main Street, Newark, New York. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery. Memorials in his name may be made to St. Michael's Church, 401 South Main Street, Newark, New York 14513.
Mr. Truini was born on August 23, 1923, in Newark the son of John and Mary Toti Truini. He was a 1942 graduate of Newark High School where he played football. After high school, Carl played semi pro football in Newark before being drafted into the Army in 1944. He served in the campaign of the liberation of the Philippines. After the War, he returned to Newark where he became a mail carrier. By 1973 he had been made Post Master, retiring in 1981. In his retirement, he helped his wife with her antique business. Carl was a life long member of St. Michael's Church in Newark and a member of the August Mauer Post American Legion.
He is survived by two daughters Margaret (Al) Schum and Martha (John) O'Connor of Webster, a son John of Canandaigua; a daughter-in-law Monica Siclare of Newark; seven grandchildren, Nicholas, Peter John, Mary Jennifer and Elizabeth Truini, Claire and Alex Schum, and Katie O'Connor; a sister Elizabeth "Betty" (Frank} Scalise of Newark. Carl was predeceased by his wife Eleanor on January 16, 2006, his siblings Rose Alvaro, Lena Cinquegrana, Richard and August Truini.
