Connie (Barnaba) Rogers
Newark—Connie Rogers, 84, went to be with her lord and savior on Tuesday (February 7, 2017) at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Tuesday (February 14th) at St. Michael Church, South Main Street, Newark. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, Rochester Chapter, 435 East Henrietta Road, Rochester, New York 14620.
Connie was born on April 11, 1932 in Lyons, the daughter of the late Angelo and Marie Scott Barnaba. She was raised in Wayne Center and graduated from North Rose-Wolcott High School. Connie was known for her bright smile and her love of music. She played guitar in the folk group, sang in the choir and was a lecture at St. Michael's for many years. She was a member of the Newark Professional Women's Club and became one of the first women in the area to own and operate her own firm, SEMBL a packing company in Lyons. She was a medical assistant at Mobil Chemical, before retiring to Florida with her husband.
She is survived by daughter Pamela Mattice of Davenport, FL; daughter-in-law Cheryl Rogers of Oswego; five grandchildren Gianina (Ben) Dotterweich, Laci (Joe) Pinckney, James Varricchio, Joshua (Angelita) Rogers and Sara Rogers; seven great grandchildren Aidan, Landon, Ava, Emma Pinchney and Sophia, Jack, Tommy Dotterweich; siblings Joseph Barnaba of Lyons, Jean DeLeo of Newark, Samuel (Carol) Barnaba of Tucson, AZ, Anthony Barnaba of Newark, Ann Novak of Palestine, TX. several nieces and nephews.
