Newark-- Daniel B. Young, 45, died Sunday (July 2, 2006). He was struck by car in Marshalltown, Iowa, while bicycling cross-country.

Friends may call on Thursday (July 6th) from 4 to 6 PM at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. Funeral services for Dan will be at 11 AM, Friday (July 7th) at the funeral home with Rev. John Watkins, officiating. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in his name may be made to Boy Scout Troop 138, @Park Presbyterian Church, Maple Court, Newark, New York 14513 or to the YMCA, 399 William Street, Geneva, New York 14456.

Mr. Young was born on May 30, 1961, in Lyons, the son of Robert A. and Jean Cowan Young. He owned and operated a firewood business in Newark. He was a 1979, graduate of Newark High School and 1982 graduate of CCFL with degrees in both Environmental Conservation and Conservation Law. He was a member of the Park Presbyterian Church in Newark and the Y.M.C.A. in Geneva. Dan enjoyed many out of doors activities, especially biking, camping and canoeing.

He is survived by his parents Robert A. and Jean of Newark, two brothers Richard (Diane) of Lyons, Michael (Roxanne) of Newark, a sister Linda (Terry) Button of Liverpool, several nieces and nephews. Dan was predeceased by his twin brother Thomas in 1990.
