David A. Lancaster “Dave”
It is with great sadness that the family of David A. Lancaster announce his passing on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the age of 67.
Friends may call from 4 – 6 P.M. on Friday, April 20, 2018 at the Paul L. Murphy and Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller St., Newark, New York. A funeral services will follow calling hours at 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home
Dave was born on May 12, 1950 in Newark, New York. He was a graduate of Newark High School, Class of 1968. Dave married Shirley Reeves in 1971 and they spent the next 47 years together. A retiree of Mobil Chemical/Hunstsman. Dave was truly a family man and enjoyed vacationing with his wife, kids and grandkids to Virginia Beach and always looked forward to the annual trip to the Adirondack Balloon Festival. He loved to hunt, 4-wheel, watch Fox News and was a lifetime member of the NRA.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Shirley Reeves Lancaster of Newark; his daughter Nicole (Jon) Lanse of Newark; five grandchildren Ciera (Jeffery Garrett), Alexis and Max Lancaster, Aiden and Anna Lanse all of Newark; step-mother Eva Van Gelder of Interlaken; siblings Carl (Carol) Bouwens of Leroy, NY, Kay (Herb) Gage and Joy (Jules) Pellerito of New Jersey, Chris Brockelbank of Newark; Larry Matthys of Wolcott, Peggy Van Damme of Newark, Penny Williamson of New Jersey, James Matthys and Jeffrey Matthys of Interlaken. Dave was predeceased by his son David Jr. in 2016; his mother Mabel Bouwens and step-father Omer “Lefty” Matthys and his father Alvin “Jake” Lancaster.
