Dolores E. King
Macedon/Lyons Following a brief illness and surrounded by her children, Dolores E King, 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday (January 21, 2020) at the Wayne County Nursing Home, Lyons NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday (Jan. 25th) at St. Michael Church, South Main Street, Newark, New York.
Dolores was born at home on July 5, 1925 in Hobart, Indiana, the daughter of the late Peter and Sophia Makowski Augustyniak. She was married to the late John E. King for 44 years. They lived in Chicago and Bensenville, Illinois where she was active in the VFW auxiliary and the St. Alexis parish. She was a charter member of the Bensenville VFW women’s “Birthday Club”.
After moving to Fairport, New York, Dolores was a long-time employee of the Village of Fairport. She was a member of the Church of the Assumption in Fairport, serving as President of the Women’s Guild.
Dolores and John retired to Maple Leaf Estates in Port Charlotte, Florida where they loved to travel and play golf. She was active in the San Antonio Church in Port Charlotte, served as President of the Women’s Guild and was a Eucharist and Bereavement Minister. Dolores also volunteered at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Dolores later relocated to Parkwood Heights Assisted Living in Macedon, NY and most recently was a resident of Wayne County Nursing Home, Lyons, NY.
Dolores was devoted to her family. As her family grew, she took great pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her later years, she enjoyed crafts including macramé, paper tole, crocheting and ceramics. She also enjoyed playing Michigan rummy, bingo, and dominoes.
Dolores is survived by four children: Joyce Monje of Liverpool, NY, John (Susan) King of Franklin, MA, James King of Elmira, NY, and Jay King of Montpelier, VT; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and her brother Walter August of Denver, Co. She was predeceased by her husband John as well as her brothers, John and Peter Augustyniak.
