Donald Hallock
Newark –Donald Hallock, 88, died Monday (February 1, 2010) at Newark Wayne Community Hospital.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M. on Saturday (February 6th) at St. Francis Church, Church Street, Phelps.
Memorials in his name may be made to the American Heart Association, 3500 Winton Place, Rochester, New York 14623.
Mr. Hallock was born in Kearney, New Jersey on October 29, 1921. He attended Castleton High School in Castleton, New York and was drafted into the Army in 1942. Don spent ten and a half years in the Army before enlisting in the US Navy Construction Battalion for another eleven and a half years. He graduated from the 7th Army Military Academy in Germany, completed the engineering school in California and licensing examiner school at Pearl Harbor. After his military career, he drove truck for United Van Lines for over twenty years. Don continued working for Parker-Hannifin, finally retiring at age 78.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Dorothy, a son Jay Hallock of New York City, four step-daughters Donna (Dan) Laurenzo of Phelps, Susan Gorall of AZ, Roberta Blanke of Fl, and Debbie Louery of Syracuse, a step-son Rodney Blake of Ovid; two special grandchildren Daniel Laurenzo, Jr. and Christine Brunner and several other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews . Don is predeceased by a son Galen and eight siblings.
