Newark"Donald L. Gary, died at his home, on Tuesday (August 15, 2006), one day short of his 67th birthday.
Friends may call from 5-8 on Thursday (August 17th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. Funeral Services will be at 1 PM on Friday (August 18th) at the funeral home, with Father Peter Clifford officiating. Burial will be in East Newark Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the American Lung Assoc., Finger Lakes Region, 1595 Elmwood Avenue, Rochester, New York 14620.
Mr. Gary was born on August 16, 1939, in Palmyra, the son of Lee and Emma Bankert Gary. He served in the U. S. Army from 1957 until 1968. After leaving the Army, he worked as a machinist for AC Delco in Rochester, until his retirement. Don was a member of St. Michael's Church, the August Mauer Post #286, American Legion in Newark and the Palmyra Moose Lodge. He had also been a member of the New York Central Hose Company and the Newark Fire Police.
He is survived by two daughters Flora Gary and Ann (Sylvester) House, Jr. both of Newark. four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two sisters Dorothy Hatfield of Florida and Shirley (Herbert) Smith of Newark, several nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by his parents and his wives Mildred in 1992 and Kathleen in 2004.
