Newark—Duane Paul Dennis, 85, died on Friday (November 3, 2017) at Rochester General Hospital.

Friends may call from 4-7 PM on Monday (November 6th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Tuesday (November 7th) at St. Michael Church, South Main Street, Newark. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Phelps.

Memorials, in his name, may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1120 South Goodman Street, Rochester, New York 14620.

Duane was born on February 4, 1932 in Newark, the son of the late George and Anna Van Camp Dennis. He was an operating Engineer in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Japan. Duane had worked in construction in Rochester before owning and operating Duane's Grill in Newark for 17 years in Newark. Upon retirement, he worked at the Clifton Springs Country Club and during the winter, he was a snowbird in New Smyrna Beach Florida. Duane was a life member of the Canandaigua Elks Lodge and a member of the Seeley B. Parish Post American Legion in Phelps. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting.

Duane is survived by his loving wife Betty Jane Marsteiner Dennis and a son Gregory R. (Diana) Burnett of Newark; three grandchildren Shannon (Paul) Garland, Nicole (William) Sargent and Brandon (Kristina) Burnett; six great grandchildren.
