Dwight H. Skeels
Lyons—Dwight H. Skeels, 86, formerly of Newark and Palmyra died Sunday (April 3, 2011) at the Wayne County Nursing Home.
A memorial service in honor of Dwight will be held at 11 A.M. on Sunday (April 10, 2011) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. Burial will be in Palmyra Cemetery.
Mr. Skeels was born February 8, 1925, in Rochester, the son of the late Wilbert and Ethel Hammond Skeels. He lived his early years in Clifton Springs and in Bradenton, Florida where he graduated from high school in 1942. After graduation, he spent three years in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of the Palmyra VFW. Dwight worked many years at Collier Clothing Store in Palmyra and Clifton Springs. He then drove a WATTS bus for twenty years, retiring in 1998.
He is survived by his sister Barbara Japp McCarthy of Geneva, nieces and nephews Patricia (Thomas) Whelan, Linda (Bruce) Donaldson, Donna Japp and Larry (Roselyn) Japp; several great nieces and nephews.
