Newark/Canandiagua —Edith C. Wemett, 92 formerly of Newark and summer resident of Canandiagua,  died Tuesday (October 20, 2009) at her home in Venice, Florida.

          Family and friends may call from 4-6 P.M. on Friday (October 23^rd) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark.  Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Saturday (October 24^th) in the Chapel of Park Presbyterian Church, Maple Court, Newark with Rev. Stuart Buisch officiating.  Burial will be in Newark Cemetery.

          Mrs. Wemett was born July 19, 1917 in Newark, the daughter of Harry and Sarah Blanchard Chapman.  She was a graduate of the Universities of Rochester, Syracuse and Geneseo, majoring in library science.  A life member of the Park Presbyterian Church, she was a volunteer and board member of the Newark Public Library, Newark-Wayne Community Hospital and a member of the Newark Country Club. 

          She is survived by her daughter Martha Wemett of Venice, Florida, a son Paul (Sarah) Wemett of Newark, and a daughter-in-law Martha Wemett of Newark, two grandchildren Kimberly Smith of Mountain Home, Idaho and Christopher (Maria) Wemett of Berkley Heights, New Jersey and five great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband Roy in 1995 and son David in 2006.
