Edith M. Canne
Newark—Edith Murray Herman Canne, the sweetest, most loving, caring woman passed away peacefully on Friday (December 28,2012) at the Wayne County Nursing Home.
A celebration of her life for friends and family will be announced in the spring of 2013. To honor Edith, reach out and touch someone with kindness and love.
Mrs. Canne was born on September 30, 1923, in Newark, daughter of the late Harry and Edith Brown Murray. She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church and a 1941 graduate of Newark High School. During her working years, Edith had been a waitress, clerk in grocery store and a seamstress. She will be remembered for her love of family, friends, cooking, baking, sewing and volunteering. Her wit and sense of humor was a gift. We have all been enriched and we are better people for having had Edith in our lives.
She was predeceased by her first husband Earl “Butch” Herman in 1979, her second husband Raymond Canne in 2011, her son E. David Herman in 2011, her daughter Susan Lee-Weichbrodt in 2012; siblings Skip, Bob and Marian Murray, Alice Hughes, Gertrude Smallridge, Nina Van Vinkle, Doris Simonse and Barbara Garvey and twin great grandson Daren and Noah. Edith is survived by grandchildren Gina Lee, Aaron Lee, Melissa Herman, John and Timothy Herman, Kathy DeJohn, Michele (“Mike” Joey) Alvarado; five great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, a daughter in law Michele Herman and a son in law Robert Weichbrodt, siblings Elizabeth (Vernon) Smallidge, Eugene (Linda) Murray, Douglas Murray; many nieces and nephews
A special thank you for all who took time to enjoy Edith while at the Newark-Manor and Wayne County Nursing Homes; the staff for their devotion, special friend Midge De Marco, grandchildren Gina, Kathy, Michele and Melissa who was her special spokesperson.
