Edwin “Ed” "E.J."Roberts
Newark/Shawnee, OK—Edwin John Roberts, 62, formerly of Newark, died Wednesday (May 18, 2011) in Shawnee. Oklahoma.
Friends may call from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. on Thursday (May26th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. Funeral services will be at 10 A.M. Friday (May27th) at the funeral home with Rev. Steven Matteson officiating. Burial will be in East Palmyra Cemetery with military honors.
Mr. Roberts was born April 3, 1949 in Newark, the son of James and Ellen Dion Roberts. He attended Red Creek Central School and Hudson Valley Community College. A Vietnam Veteran, he served as a flight operations coordinator and airfield commander with the US Army. He retired from ExxonMobil in Macedon and Shawnee, OK. Ed had been working for Titan ES, LLC as a training coordinator. A certified storm spotter, he was a member of the August Mauer Post American Legion of Newark, the Elks Lodge #657 of Shawnee, the Boy Scouts of America, The Tecumseh Ham Radio Club.
E.J. is survived by his wife of 17 years Carren, son Derek, step-sons and their wives, Wallace and Amber Ingraham of Shawnee and Robert and Angela Ingraham of Stanley, N.Y.; grandchildren Dylan and Taylor Ingraham of Shawnee; his mother Ellen Dion Roberts of Hilton; sisters Barbara Bulter of Marion and Rebecca Shulla of Newark; brothers James H. (Marlene) of Palmyra, and Gary (Karen) of N. Chili, an Uncle and Aunt Alfred and Alberta Dion of Newark; an Aunt Ruth Ann Dion Follette; many nieces and nephews, and loving friends in both New York and Oklahoma. Ed was predeceased by his father James H. in 1996.
