Elizabeth “Betty” Babcock
Newark/Canandaigua –Betty Babcock, 88, died Friday (April 2, 2010) at the MM Ewing Continuing Care Center in Canandaigua .
Friends may call from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. on Tuesday (April 6) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller St., Newark. Funeral Services will follow at 1: 30 P.M. at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 301 East Miller Street, Newark. Burial services will be in East Newark Cemetery.
Memorials, in her name, may be made to the Emmanuel United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Babcock was born August 29, 1921, in Watkins Glen the daughter of Bert and Annice Bendle Pollen. She was a graduate of Houghton College and Buffalo State Teachers College. Betty retired from the Newark School District. She had taught third grade at Roosevelt and then first grade at Perkins Schools for many years. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association. A member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Betty had been active with many activities and the Knox Class.
She is survived by her sons Kenneth (Naomi) of South Buffalo, Donald (Bonita) of Waterloo and David (Bonnie) of Canandaigua, 15 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by her husband Rev. Warren Babcock in 1988; sisters Florence Pollen, Madge Arnold, Mary Hummell and Mabel Hummell; brothers Clarence and Bert Pollen.
