Elizabeth “Betty” Scalise

Newark –Betty Scalise, 82, passed away peacefully at her home onSaturday (January9, 2010).

          Father Felix Dalimpuo will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. on Friday (January 15th) at St. Michael’s Church, South Main Street, Newark.  Burial will be in Newark Cemetery.

          Memorials contributions in her name may be made to St. Michael’s Church, 401 South Main Street, Newark, New York 14513 or to the House of John, 14 Spring Street, Clifton Springs, New York 14432. 

          Mrs. Scalise was born in Newark on May 24, 1927, the daughter of John and Mary Toti Truini.  A life-long resident of Newark, she graduated from Newark High School, Class of 1944.  Betty was an active member of her community. She was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church and a member of the Rosary and Altar Society.  She was a medical secretary for the late Doctors Tansley and Hamilton.  Betty retired from the Newark Developmental Center in 1982 where she had worked in the administration office.  She enjoyed her home and gardening and was considered by many to be a fine cook.  Betty was a loving and caring wife and mother who always put her family first. She was passionate about her family, friends and faith.  

          She will be dearly missed by many, especially her beloved husband of 46 happy years, Francis “Frank”, two children Maria Scalise of Rochester  and Frankie of Syracuse and many nieces and nephews.  Betty was predeceased by three sisters Isabella Scalise, Rose Alvaro and Lena Cinquegrana, three brothers Richard, August and Carl Truini.

          The family is grateful for the loving support of family, friends and many others as she battled cancer.
