Newark—Elmo G. Johnson, 87, died Friday (October 23, 2009) at the Wayne County Nursing  Home.

          Family and friends may call from 6-8 P.M. on Monday (October 26^th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark.  Memorial services will be held at 2 PM on Saturday (October 31st) at Kingdom Hall on RT 88S in Newark.

          Elmo was born January 20, 1922 in Albany, the son of Evert and Bernice Hardy Johnson.  He served in the Army during WWII.  Mr. Johnson retired after 35 years from Gleason Works. 

          He is survived by his wife Barbara three children; Stephen (Janet) Johnson of Farmington, David (Patricia) Johnson of Walworth, Kevin (Linda) Johnson of Palmyra,  17 grandchildren,  a step son, Kenyatta (Laqueentha) West of Geneva, a son-in-law Roger East of Palmyra,  a sister,  Evangline (William) Tierson of Newark.  He was predeceased by his daughter Delores East and a brother Mynard Johnson in 2001.
