Newark—Esther S. Ahrans, died on Wednesday (January 9, 2019) at the Clifton Springs Nursing Home
Friends may call from 2-5 PM on Sunday (January 13th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 PM on Monday (January 14th ) at St. Michael Church, South Main Street, Newark. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Phelps.

Esther was born in Clyde, the daughter of Leon and Rose Tabicone Stanziana. She was a senior accountant at the Newark D.D.S.O. retiring in 1991. She was a Past President of the Top of the Hill group of State School retirees. Esther was a communicant of St. Michael Church where she had run the rummage sale for several years; helped with the Holiday sale, parish festival; and had served on the Parish Council. She was also active with St. Michael's Rosary and Alter Society. For many years, Esther was active with the Newark Fire Department Auxiliary where she had served as President. She had also been a member and Past President of the Wayne County Volunteer Firemen Association Auxiliary and the Northern Central Ladies Auxiliary. Esther was a member of Wayne Hill Golf Club and also enjoyed playing at the Silver Creek Golf Course.
She is survived by her two sons Donald (Lisa) and Ronald both of Newark; two grandchildren Jennifer (Randy) Kuhn and Matthew; three great grandchildren Gavin, Sydney and Cameron Kuhn; two sisters Leona Fields Lake Hill, TX and Mary Lou Palumo of Victor and several nieces and nephews. Esther was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Donald R. in 2001 and a sister Connie Tavano.
