Eugene L. De Looze
Port Gibson---Eugene L. De Looze, 82, died Sunday (May 29, 2005) at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital.
Friends may call from 2-4 & 7-9 PM on Wednesday (June 1st) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. Graveside funeral services will be at 11 AM. on Thursday (June 2nd) at Port Gibson Cemetery.
Memorials in his name may be made to the Port Gibson Volunteer Fire Department.
Mr. De Looze was born July 31, 1922 in the Town of Arcadia, the son of Edmund and Bertha Waeghe De Looze. He retired from the Newark Developmental Center in 1982. Gene was a member of the Port Gibson Fire Department for 54 years. An Army veteran, he served in Germany during World War II and as a reservist he was called to active duty to serve in Korea during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Juanita, daughter Carol (William) Magee of East Palmyra, two grandsons Casey (Kelly) Magee and Travis (Marnie) Magee, three great grandchildren, a brother Edmund (Elizabeth) De Looze of Fairport. Gene was predeceased by his parents and a sister Emma Boyer.
