Father Felix Dalimpuo, 52, Pastor of Saint Michael's Parish, Newark, died on November 4, 2015, in his native country Ghana.
Born Janurary 3, 1963, Father Dalimpuo was ordained a Catholic Priest in 1993 for the Archdiocese of Tamale, Ghana. In June 2004, Father Dalimpuo was granted a sabbatical and came to the Diocese of Rochester to serve at Saint Catherine of Siena Parish in Ithaca. At the conclusion of his sabbatical year, Father Dalimpuo pursued graduate studies in bioethics at Loyola Marymount, Los Angeles, California. In 2007, Father returned to the Diocese of Rochester and served at Blessed Trinity/St Patricks parishes in Tioga County; Immaculate Conception Parish, Rochester and Saint Bridget's Parish, Rochester. In August 2008, Father Dalimpuo was assigned to Saint Michael's Parish in Newark and the following June was appointed the Pastor. On May 14, 2015, Father Dalimpuo became a United States citizen.
Father Dalimpuo was decribed by his parishioners as a priest who was very dedicated, caring, supportive and committed to God and His people.
Mass of Christian Burial and interment will take place in the Archdiocese of Tamale, Ghana.
The Most Reverend Salvatore R. Matano, Bishop of Rochester, will offer a Memorial Mass on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 11:00 AM, at Saint Michael Church, 401 South Main Street, Newark.
