Newark ---Florence L. Celso, 82, died Thursday (Dec. 27, 2012), at the DeMay Living Center.

            Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery.

            Mrs. Celso was born March 22, 1930 in Newark, the daughter of the late Jerome and Bertha Hurley Lamote.   At the age of 16, she graduated from Newark High School in the Class of 1946.  Florence was a life time communicant of St. Michael’s Church.  After of high school, Florence started a career with the New York Telephone Company as an operator working her way up a supervisor.  After her retirement from NY Telephone, she was hired by Ontario Telephone Company, as a sales representative.  Florence retired in 1999, after working in the telephone business for 53 years.  She was a member of the New York Telephone Pioneers.  Florence enjoyed cooking, loved her dogs and to dancing.    

            She is survived by her sons Mark (Gladys) Celso of Newark and Jack (Jan) Briggs of Winchester, England; two granddaughters Phyllis Dingee and Rhonda Hutching; a great grandson Michael Hutching; a sister Shirley Briggs of Seattle, WA.  Florence was predecease by her husband Thomas R. on December22 1989.
