Newark--- Fran Engert, 83, died Wednesday (November 23, 2011) at the DeMay Living Center.

            Friends may call Saturday (Nov. 26) from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at the Paul L. Murphy Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark where funeral services will follow at 11 A. M.   Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Phelps.

            In lieu of flowers memorials contributions, may be to the Newark Elks Lodge # 1249, 223 South Main Street, Newark, New York 14513..

            Mrs. Engert was born on December 5, 1927 in Attica, New York, the daughter of the late William and Edith Diemer Koester.  She graduated in 1946 from high school in Walworth.  Fran was a longtime employee of the Wayne Drug Store in Newark where she enjoyed assisting customers.  A member of the Newark Elks Club, Fran had been active for years volunteering at dinners and banquets.

            She is survived by her children Susan (Earl) Lincoln of Clifton Springs, Floyd “Bob” (Brenda) of Walworth and John (Molly) of Farmington; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a sister Wilda (John) Davis of Warsaw, New York.  Fran is predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Floyd; two brothers, Gordon and Willard Koester.
