Francis F. "Bud" Darrow
Newark"Bud Darrow, 90, died Friday (October 15, 2004) at his home on Washington Street.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. on Wednesday (Oct. 20th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. Funeral services will be at 2 P.M. on Thursday (Oct. 21st) at the Park Presbyterian Church, Maple Court, Newark.
Memorials in his name may be made to the Park Presbyterian Church, Maple Court, Newark, New York 14513 or to the Hospice of Wayne County, 1120 South Main Street, Newark, New York 14513.
Mr. Darrow was born in Syracuse on June 4, 1914, the son of Ernest and Bessie Forbes Darrow. Growing up in this area, he was the first Boy Scout in Newark to become Eagle Scout and in later years he volunteered as a scoutmaster. Bud retired in 1970, as District Manager of the Homelite Corporation in Buffalo where he had worked for many years. He then established Soil Science, a division of Bero Construction in Waterloo and managed it for ten years. He was an active member of the Park Presbyterian Church and the Newark Masonic Lodge # 83. Bud volunteered at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital and the DeMay Living Center and had served on the hospital's auxiliary board. He enjoyed flying and had been a member of the Williamson Flying Club.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helen "Peg" Darrow , three daughters Judy (Ken) Hogan, Bonnie (Lyman) Hurlburt both of North Port, Fl. and Beverly Burlee of Newark, a son Timothy (Karen) of Carborro, NC; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Bud is predeceased by a son Jonathan in 1971 and a brother Ernest Jr. in 1960.
