Frederick W. Ludwig
Port Gibson—Frederick William Ludwig, 92, died on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Crestview Manor in Perinton.
A funeral service will be held at Noon on Friday, November 15, 2024, at the First United Methodist Church, 301 S. Main St. in Newark with Rev. Garry McCaffery officiating. Burial will be in East Newark Cemetery.
Memorials, in his name, may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 301 S. Main St., Newark, NY 14513 or to the Port Gibson Fire Department, 2939 Greig St., Port Gibson, NY 14537.
Mr. Ludwig was born on December 6, 1931, in Huron, the son of the late Emil and Olga Pein Ludwig. He served his country during the Korean Conflict in the US Marine Corps from 1951 to 1952 and was a member of the American Legion. After the service, Fred graduated from the Tool & Die Making School at R.I.T. Then for the next 37 years, he worked for Parker-Hannifin, in the tool & die department, as a draftsman, in the engineering department, in sales and the last seventeen years as the purchasing manager, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Newark. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, joining the Newark Chapter in 1955, twice Fred served as High Priest of the Royal Arch Masons and bowled in the Masonic Bowling League for over 50 years. He also belonged to the Damascus Shrine in Webster and was a Past Commander of the Legion of Honor. Fred was a long time member of the Order of the Eastern Star where he served as Patron and was the Grand Marshall of the New York State Order of the Eastern Star in 1996. He was also a life member of the NRA. He and Lois started building their own home in Port Gibson in 1952, moving into it in 1957, where they currently live.
Mr. Ludwig is survived by his wife Lois, three children Debra Ludwig, Della Ludwig and James (Sheila) Ludwig; three grandchildren Justin Enis, Joshua Ludwig, and Rachel Hansen; one great grandchild; He was predeceased by his brother John (Katherine) Ludwig
