Gail A. (DeRue) Van Dusen
Newark---Gail A. Van Dusen passed away peacefully after a long illness on April 18, 2022, at age 75.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 13, 2022 at 4-7 PM at Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller St. Newark and Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 11-12 AM at Newark Elks Club, 223 South Main St., Newark where a funeral service will follow at Noon. Burial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family.
Gail was born in Sodus, attended Sodus High School, and received her teaching degree from SUNY Oneonta. She was a Home Economics Teacher in the North Rose/Wolcott School Middle School for many years before retiring in 2002.
Gail lived her life to the fullest with a passion for people, flowers, books and especially young children who she would take on shopping trips when she wasn’t teasing them. She was a dedicated wife, and friend who always offered unwavering support to all whose lives she touched. She lived with utmost integrity, and leaves behind a wonderful legacy for family, extended family, friends, students and colleagues.
Gail is survived by her loving and caring husband of 52 years, John Van Dusen; brother-in-law Tim (Pamela) DeRue brothers, Michael (Elaine), Thomas (Kathryn), Douglas (Sue), Daniel (Barbara), Reginald (Dawn), Ronald (Elizabeth), Andrew (Robin), Jeffrey (Deborah), and sister, Linda (Peter) Low, several nieces, nephews, an extended family whom she adored, and dear friends. She was predeceased by her parents Samuel and Necia (Seager) DeRue; by mother and father- in-law, Evelyn (Provard) and Harold Van Dusen; by brother and sister- in- law, Paul and Barbara DeRue.
