George Cook

Newark"George A. Cook, 88, of Minstead Road, died on Thursday (August 12, 2005) at the DeMay Living Center.

Friends may call from 2-3:30 PM on Monday (Aug. 15th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. Funeral services will follow at 3:30 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in East Newark Cemetery.

Memorials in her name may be made to Park Presbyterian Church, Maple Court, Newark New York 14513 or the Alzheimer's Association, Rochester Chapter, 435 East Henrietta Road, Rochester, New York 14620.

Mr. Cook was born in Newark on September 8, 1916, the son of Louis H. and Nora May Dingman Cook. George served in the Army during World War II. He was overseas for seventeen months in France, Germany, Austria and Switzerland as a radio operator, transmitting and receiving Morse Code. He was also with the American Red Cross Ski Patrol. He had worked at Bloomer Brothers and retired from the Newark Developmental Center. A 55 year member of the Park Presbyterian Church, he was also a member of the Newark Elks and the August Mauer Post #286, American Legion and Arcadia Memorial Post #2883,Veteran of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his son Bruce Cook of Rochester. George was predeceased by his wife Mabel in 2001, a son William in 1994, a sister Carol and brother Walter
