Harold E. Semmler
Newark/Marion"Harold E. Semmler, 86, died Thursday (March 10, 2005) at the DeMay Living Center.
Friends may call from 3-6 PM on Thursday (Mar. 17th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. Funeral services will follow at 6 P.M. Burial will be in Marion Cemetery.
Memorials in his name may be made to the Activity Fund at the DeMay Living Center, 100 Sunset Drive, Newark, New York 14513.
Mr. Semmler was born in Kendall, New York on April 17, 1918, the son of Charles and Wilhelmina Wogatske Semmler. For twenty-five years, he owned and operated a fruit and vegetable farm on the Marion Williamson Road in Marion, retiring in 1972. He was a member and past board member of the Wayne County Growers Association. After retirement he and his wife lived in Sodus Point and Palmetto, Florida later they moved to Newark. Harold was a member of the United Church in Marion where he had been a Deacon. He was a member of the Walworth Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. An avid bowler and golfer, he was a life member of the Sodus Bay Heights Golf Club.
Harold is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruth of Clifton Springs, three sons Dan (Jean) of Penfield, John (Shelley) of Ithaca, and F. William (Kathy) of Newark, ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, three sisters Eleanor (Donald) Stanton of Lewisburg, TN, Arlene Yantz of Middlesex and Leona Beach of Ledyard, CT., several nieces and nephews. Harold was predeceased by a brother Carl.
