Newark"Harold A. Janto, 89, died Wednesday (Dec. 28, 2005) at his home of 33 years in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey.
Friends may call from 2-5 PM on Sunday (Jan. 1st) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Monday (Jan. 2nd) at St. Michael's Church with Father Peter Clifford officiating. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to St. Michael's School, 320 S. Main Street, Newark, New York 14513 or to Altantic City Medical Center Hospice, PO Box 1626, Pleasantville, NJ 08232.
Mr. Janto was born on February 13, 1916 in Clyde, New York, the son of Anthony and Nellie Capone Janto. He grew up in Clyde, graduating from the Clyde School System. In his younger years he worked for Bloomer Brothers and St. Michael's School. He went on to become the Athletic Trainer at St. John Fisher College in Rochester, New York and the Atlantic Community College in Mays Landing, New Jersey. Harold was a communicant of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Somers Point, New Jersey. When in Newark, he belonged to St. Michael's Church where he was active with the CYO, coaching St. Michael's basketball teams.
Harold is survived by his wife of 67 years Angeline Marro Janto, a daughter Carole (Donn) Iddings of Newark, a son Randy (Mary Lee) Janto of Ocean City, NJ six grandchildren and six great grandchildren, a sister Margaret Paliotti of Lyons, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister Anna Musso.
