Harold “Squeaky” Carlson
Newark—Squeaky Carlson, 83, died on Wednesday (January 25, 2017) at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital.
Services and celebration of his life will be announced for a date sometime in May.
Memorial donations in his name may be made to the VFW National Home for Children, 3573 South Waverly Road, Easton Rapids, MI 48827.
Harold was born on November 6, 1933 in Newark, the son of the late Ralph P. and Mary Elizabeth Farnsworth Carlson. He was a 1952 graduate of Newark High School and served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked in the maintance department at the Finger Lakes Race Track for many years. Squeaky was a member of the East Palmyra Presbyteran Church, the Palmyra Moose Club, the August Mauer Post American Legion, the VFW in both Newark and Palmyra, the Mouse Sportman Club and the Twin County Sportman's Assoc. Squeaky founded a golf tournment “Squeaky's Scramble” which he has held for many years to benefit of the VFW Children's National Home.
He is survived by his niece Charlotte (Duane) Parkhurst of Point, TX and a nephew Russell (Sandy) Carlson of Newark; a great niece and two great nephews; several great great nephew and nieces; a sister-in-law Annebel Carlson and many close friends. Harold was predeceased by his brother Ralph Carlson, Jr.
