Newark---Hazel Ridley Vanderbrook, 103, of Marbletown, died Wednesday (April 13, 2005) at the Rochester General Hospital.
No prior calling hours. Funeral services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in East Newark Cemetery.
Memorials in her name may be made to one's favorite charity.
Mrs. Vanderbrook was born December 27, 1901, in Newark the daughter of Nelson and Mary Pelis Ridley. A graduate of the Geneseo Normal College, she taught school in the Clark District for a few years. Hazel retired from C.W. Stuart Nursery in 1966 where she had been a secretary. With a love for flowers, she also had work for Graham Florist making floral arrangements. She was active in Home Bureau, was an avid card player and belonged to a ladies pinochle club for over 50 years.
She is survived by three sons Gene (Ruth) of Tonawanda, Don of Newbury, Oh., and Gary of Newark, seven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews. Hazel was predeceased by her husband Leon in 1982, sisters Neva, Edith, Lola and a brother Myrle.
The family is being served by the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home.
