Clifton Springs/Newark-Hedwig Deeg, 86, died Friday (January 3, 2014) at the Living Center North in Geneva.
Friends may call from 4-7 P.M. on Wednesday (January 8^th) ath the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. Father Felix Dalimpuo will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. on Thursday (January 9 th ) at St. Michael Church, South Main Street, Newark. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery.

Memorials, in her name, may be made to St. Michael's Church, 401 South Main Street, Newark, New York 14513.

Mrs. Deeg was born on January 26, 1927, in the Bavaria Region of Germany the daughter of Hans and Caecilia Then Kempf. She had earned a Master Degree in Chemistry in Germany. Hedwig came to the United States in 1967 and lived in the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania area before moving to Clifton Springs in August of 2011. Hedwig worked for H & R Block for twenty years, retiring at age 82. She was a communicant of St. Michael Church.

She is survived by her children Wolfgang (Janet) of Dunkirk, OK; Martin (Betty) of Spokane, WA; Bernhard (Carol) of Carroll, OH; Renate (Paul) Dewa of Newark, NY; eight grandchildren Katherine Heyland, Ricker, Matthew, Matthew, Gretchen, and Konrd Deeg, Theresa and Aleksandra Dewa; two great grandchildren. Hedwig was predeceased by her husband Dr. Emil in 2004.
