Lyons/Newark---Herbert M. Vanderlyke, 53, died on Saturday (July 26, 2008) at the Wayne County Nursing Home.

Friends may call Tuesday (July 29th) from 4-7 PM at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Wednesday (July 30th) at St. Michael's Church, South Main Street, Newark. Burial will be in South Lyons Cemetery.

Memorials in his name may be made to American Diabetes Association, 160 Allen Creek Road, Rochester, New York 14618 or to the Wayne County Humane Society, 1475 County House Road, Lyons, New York 14489.

Mr. Vanderlyke was born on January 17, 1955, in Lyons, the son of Herbert and Beatrice Schmitt Vanderlyke. He was a 1973 graduate of Newark High School. Herb was a welder and torch cutter for Garlock, Inc. for 21 years.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Michele "Micky" of Lyons, daughter Brandy of Newark and son Herbert Jr. of Lyons, a brother Michael (Karensue) of East Palmyra two grandchildren Herbert III and Sarah Rotondo, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father in 2000 and mother 1998.
