Newark-Irene F. Mackey, 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 22, 2023 with her family by her side.

Family and friends may call Monday October 30th from 2pm to 4pm and from 7pm to 9pm at Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 E. Miller St., Newark, Ny. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 31st at 10am at the funeral home. Private burial in Fairville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, any donations can be made to Fairville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, 2963 Route 88, Newark, NY 14513.

Irene was born the daughter of the late Adrain and Florence (Orbaker) Vanderlinde on December 13, 1932 in Williamson, NY. She was a graduate of Newark High School and had worked for the Wayne County Department of Social Services as the Finance Director until her retirement in 1992. She was a Charter Member of the Fairville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for over 65 years. Irene loved golfing, camping, playing cards, crocheting and being a grandma.

Irene will be remembered by her loving husband of 44 years David A Mackey, Sr.; 5 children, Robert Vercrouse, David (Lynnette) Mackey, Gary (Cathy) Vercrouse, Mark Mackey and Maureen Sampson; 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Irene was predeceased by her first husband Richard Vercrouse; son Timothy Mackey Sr; her brother Adrian Vanderlinde and her sister Dorothy Frey.
