James R. Paone
Newark"87, of West Union Street, died Saturday (March 19, 2005) at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital.
Friends may call from 5-8 PM on Monday (Mar. 28th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Peter Clifford at 10 AM on Tuesday (Mar. 29th) at St. Michael's Church. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery with military honors.
Memorials in his name may be made to the St. Michael's Church, 401 South Main Street, Newark, New York 14513.
Mr. Paone was born in Newark on August 16, 1917, the son of John and Mary Paone. He was a printer for Bloomer Brothers, retiring in 1983. Jim was a communicant of St. Michael's Church and a member of the Arcadia Memorial Post, VFW. An army veteran, Jim served thoughout Europe from the Normandy invasion until the end of World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Portia Buragina Paone, sister Jennie Guernsey of Tustin, Ca., sister-in-law Rosalie Paone of Rochester, Ann (Carl) Conklin, Jeanette (Paul) Staples and Angeline (John) Yaniri all of Newark, a brother-in-law James Buragina of Syracuse, several cousins, nieces and nephews.
