James R. Stoops
Newark –James A. Stoops, 64, died Saturday (October 9, 2010) at Newark Wayne Community Hospital.
Friends may call on Tuesday (October 12th) from 6 to 9 pm at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller St. in Newark. A Funeral Service will be held 10 am on Wednesday(October 13th) at the First United Methodist Church, S. Main St., Newark.

Mr. Stoops was born October 13, 1945 in Geneva, New York, the son of James S. and Hannah Agnes McCormack Stoops. He graduated from De Sales High School, class of 1965. After high school, Jim served in the U.S. Navy where he was deployed in the Mediterranean until 1969. As Computer Inventory Specialist, Jim worked for Priority Transportation in Farmington. He was a member of the Newark Elks Lodge and attended the First United Methodist Church in Newark. Jim had a passion for sailing and cars.
Mr. Stoops is survived by his wife of 39 years, Vicki, three sons James of Geneva, Ryan of Newark, Daniel (Laura) of Norfolk VA, one grandchild Derek James of Norfolk, a brother Kevin (Mary) of Michigan, two sisters Nancy (Raymond) Pulver of Newark, Kathy (Michael) Calarco of Newark, a brother-in-law Michael (Janice) Young of Denver CO, a sister-in-law Linda (Scott) Mitchell of Evansville IN, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents James in 1989 and Agnes in 1997.
