Newark—James R. Foster, 63, died Monday (July 16, 2018) at the Newark Wayne Community Hospital.
Friends may call from 4:30 to 7 PM on Friday (July 20th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday (July 21st) at the funeral home. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery in Phelps. There will be a Newark Fire Department visitation at 4 PM on Friday.
Memorials, in his name, may be made to either the Arcadia Hose Company #2, 100 East Miller Street, Newark, New York 14513 or the Meals on Wheels Service, 1519 Nye Road Suite 400, Lyons, New York 14489.
Jim was born on December 28, 1954 in Newark the son of Richard and Shirley Krebbeks Foster. He was a 1974 graduate of Newark High School and had attended SUNY at Canton for a couple years. Jim was the head custodian at Perkins Elementary School in Newark for 32 years, retiring in 2011. He was a lifetime member of the Arcadia Hose Company #2 of the Newark Fire Department. For over 20 years, he served as Unit President of the CSEA. Jim was a fan of dirt racing and Barefoot Bob McCreadie and also a fan of NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt. He rooted for the Green Bay Packers. Jim really enjoyed his Chevy trucks, snowplowing and Boonville, NY, his second home. Jim loved his Labradors: Libby and Essie Grace. He was often seen with his Diet Coke.
A beloved husband, father, Poppa, to him family always came first. Jim is survived by his wife of 40 years, Linda Camacho Foster; his children Jaime (David) Clukey, Clifton Springs and Justin (significant other Mandy Crowder) of Geneva; three grandchildren: Emma, Sophia and Chase; his mother Shirley Foster of Newark, two brothers John (Laurie) of Lockport and Jerrold Foster of Marion; many uncles, aunts and cousins. Jim was predeceased by his father Richard "Dick" Foster in 2005.
