Sodus—on January 6, 2010 at age 78.  Friends may call from 7-9 PM on Friday (January 8th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark where funeral services will be at 3 PM on Saturday (January 9^th) with the Rev. Christy Wareham officiating.   

Mrs. Dale was born on October 15, 1931, in Perry, New York the daughter of John and Doris VanDresser Sowerby.  She was a graduate of John Marshall High School in Rochester and worked many years as a secretary at Marina Dodge in Webster.

She is survived by her husband Gary Dale of Sodus, four sons, Ronald (Sara) Downs of Bloomington Il.,  Paul (Ruth Ann) Downs of Penfield, Jeffrey (Christine) Downs of Fairport,  and Timothy (Cathy) Downs of Pittsford, a step-daughter Kimberly (Dominic) Folino of Sodus and ten grandchildren.
