Jean Windsor Jones
Clifton Springs/Geneva—Jean Jones, 97, died on December 26, 2020 at the Clifton Springs Hospital.
Final rites will be held at the convenience of the family.
Jean was born July 22 1923, in Geneva, the daughter of the late William and Estelle Wadsworth Windsor. A 1940 graduate of Geneva High School, she majored in journalism and business a Rider College in Lawrenceville, New Jersey and Midland College in Fremont, Nebraska; subsequently studying radio script writing and advertising at New York University in New York City. For several years, she worked in radio in Rochester, New York and Jacksonville and Miami, Florida.
In the 1950’s, she returned to Geneva (after a brief marriage and divorce) where she began a 35 year career as a news reporter a feature writer with the former Geneva Daily Times, subsequently renamed the Geneva Times and the Finger Lakes Times. She won numerous accolades and State Associated Press (AP) Awards for her news reporting and feature writing. In her retirement she moved to the SPA Apartments in Clifton Springs
She is survived by a son Adrian W. (Denise) Brigham, two granddaughters Amanda and Katherine all of Chicago; several nieces and nephews. Jean was predeceased by her ex husband Lawrence W. Jones a WWII Navy veteran and two brothers Bruce Windsor of Geneva and Adrian W. Windsor, who died in WWII while serving as a master deep sea diver with the US Navy.
